 "I LOVE LG PRODUCTS!!!" 2009-03-15
By Anthony cruz (new york, new york USA)
I bought this microwave after redoing my apartment last summer..I bought a LG fridge and fell in LOVE with this appliance AND company!!...so I decided to go with this microwave....in ANY appliance there is always ONE " bad egg" and maybe the last customer got that one...sorry but the same one I got, I tripled checked on Consumer Reports and they also gave it a recommended rating....well I use it everyday and it's STELLAR!..I'm about to buy another for my niece & nephew's birthday gift.

Cheers,

 "Never received" 2009-11-21
By Jenny Waller
I would love to give a review for this product, however, it was never received.

I bought this for my daughter who went away to college this fall, and her dorm did not have a microwave, so fine, send her one.

It never arrived. I have not received a refund, she has not received her microwave, not happy.

This microwave is very loud and it vibrated my kitchen counter, including my built-in gas range. I do not recommend this item. It was shipped and some of the styro packing was broken when I unpacked the box.

 "Great product" 2010-02-05
By M. Sims (Arkansas)
My first Amana Radarange I had for over 20 years(it's still running, but loosing its cooking power). Even though Consumer Report didn't test this product I bought it anyway due to past experience and it came in stainless steel.

It is actually lower wattage than my old one, but it much more powerful. Great space inside, but due to the turntable (that you can't turn off)my rectagular dishes bang around.

I only have one negative: You can't use the kitchen timer feature and use the microwave at the same time like on my old one.

"Excellent performance and value in a midsize microwave" 2009-12-29
By J. Bryant
We bought this a couple of years ago and it has stood up well to frequent everyday use. We had an old GE that died, so I learned how to replace the power supply, but that again only lasted another year. After a lot of research we bought this Sharp microwave and have been pleased with it. The controls are easy to use, the popcorn setting makes perfect microwave popcorn. It seems to cook fairly evenly. This has been an excellent value for this size microwave. It fits everything we need, cooks quickly, easy to use, and not one problem in two years.

 "Short Lifespan_Only survived 8 months" 2009-10-12
By KarenDawn (Baltimore, MD)
I purchased this microwave in February 2009.

I'm the only person who uses it, usually for quick frozen meals or to reheat food. Excessive use was not the cause of its demise.

On October 10, I put my coffee cup in for 45 seconds (full power) to reheat it, walked into the living room and before the coffee had time to reheat, I smelled a sharp, burning plastic type of odor coming from the kitchen. I was greeted by smoke coming from the microwave. I immediately opened the door and removed the cup as more of the (not-so) fragrant smoke poured out from the inner, side vents of the microwave. It had a lot of nice features for the price; too bad long-life wasn't one of those features.

"Gets very hot on the outside" 2009-09-15
By Renee Pruett
I got this microwave out of the box and it looked great with my new stainless appliances. The first time we used it, it got really, really hot on the outside and the fan was blowing very hot air. We are going to take it back.

 "Didn't Last" 2009-01-31
By Chanda J. Rojas (Johnstown, CO United States)
I bought this 11 months ago, and a few days ago I was melting butter in a glass bowl when inside on the right it started smoking and melting. There was no metal inside the microwave so I am not really sure what happened. Also the glass tray slips off the inside track very frequently during use. It does look good, and I only paid $30 for it on clearance so I got what I paid for. Other than the tray slipping it worked great, right up to the melt down.

"Do NOT Buy this Microwave" 2010-04-30
By I. Ritter
Have had the unit for less than two days. It lights up, spins but does not heat.

Would NOT recommend anyone purchase this microwave.

 "Obviously a Disposable Microwave" 2009-09-03
By Laurie 5
It lasted 2 years and 1 month and whatever it is that heats/cooks the food has quit. The lights, the buttons, the turntable all work it just doesn't heat. I've only owned 1 other microwave prior to this which lasted almost 15 years. After reading all the other reviews here, with few exceptions, it is evident that this microwave is disposable. My turntable also made noises as it went around. I'm very disappointed. Time to shop for a new one and I'm thinking price will be the determining factor. Companies just don't make products that are meant to last anymore.

"Do NOT buy this microwave" 2009-06-28
By John N. Spencer (Pennsylvania)
Well... let's say I was woken up last night at 1:30 AM to the sounds of the microwave operating itself. Earlier in the week, the unit turned itself on and also beeped randomly. The display was showing unusual codes as well. After reading some other online reviews for GE microwaves, some that included fire, I would say that you should NOT buy this microwave and would go on to say to avaoid all GE microwaves.

I would give this zero stars if I could.

"This is an awful product, a lousy piece of junk and is probably dangerious" 2009-05-24
By Wood Wren (U.S.A.)
This GE counter top microwave has been grossly overrated by every single one of the other reviewers here. I just took the third, and believe me, it will be the last, one back to the store today. I bought the first one a little over a month ago; it lasted one week and simply stopped working. I took its replacement, which the store was kind enough to give me, back the same day. It lasted three days. It constantly blew out my fusses and sounded like a tractor with major mechanical problems as the table turned on its separate motor. The store gave me another and it lasted until last night. It sputtered, sparked, popped and gave up the ghost. (No, I did not have metal in it...I was warming water in a pure glass cup designated microwave safe.

Now I do not and did not give this hunk of misbegotten metal, glass and plastic a very hard workout. We are talking heating water for tea, warming up some pizza which I probably should have thrown out, and warming up some soup from time to time.

The machine sounded terrible and I could actually detect a burning wire smell in the air. I did not feel it was safe in the house.

I am not sure where this thing was made; actually I am not sure WHY this thing was made, but who ever put it together did one lousy job. I have normally been happy with G.E. products, but if this is the type of stuff they are turning out, I can see why our factories are in trouble in this country. As one review put it, this was a complete hunk of junk. Like yet another reviewer here, it takes my friend and I well over an hour to drive to town over some pretty horrible roads. I do not need crap like this in my life.

One star is far too many stars to give this product. SHAME ON YOU G.E.

"What A Piece of JUNK!!!" 2009-05-21
By Pam Tee
I had a friend who worked for GE as a manager and he told me that in their washers they'd gladly ditch a part that might make it last longer if it cost a nickel. I guess I should have taken that message to heart.

We bought this microwave three months ago. Were a little hasty about it because our Samsung had died and we needed a replacement quickly. Well what an awful mistake to buy this GE.

First, it looks okay, but looks don't matter if it dies on you after only 180 days. But here's my list o' complaints:

-- It frequently made the circuit breaker flip. We've never had that problem before we got this GE product, and in fact it did it again when it died.

-- The popcorn feature was off. We had to fool around and find out what the actual time was.

-- The little feet on the bottom were cheap and left black marks on the counter top.

-- It's loud and vibrates.

-- And, of course, the warrant is awful.

I don't know what other brand we'll buy, but you can be sure it won't be a General Electric product.

 "Sharp Carousel" 2010-02-21
By Amanda Fisk (Campbell, CA USA)
May purchase another Sharp (Carousel II) 1000 if available based on reviewers comments, My R-4A93 (that's about 16 yrs old, I calculate) just went out. Could tell it was getting a bit weak in last couple years, so just did quick heat ups. But for longer cooking, such as 18 min rice, I used my tiny portable Samsung Classic Collection II Compact Series MW2000U. It's a jewell. Otherwise, I will try to find a larger Samsung to fit in the cabinet space the Sharp Carousel occupied since I must replace a builtin (look) and I already have the metal cabinet trim. Thanks for mentioning Frys.

 "Works just fine" 2009-06-13
By DAM (Sacramento, Ca.)
March 27, 2010 update. So far the Sharp has performed perfectly.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A couple months back we needed to replace our GE microwave which died suddenly. We use the microwave daily so needed a replacement sooner rather than later. I planned on another GE since we have used all GE kitchen products for 30 years. Looked in Consumer Reports and Amazon.

Surprise! GE microwaves were a disaster according to customer reviews at both CR & Amazon. The CR top rated oven, a GE, had 26 of 38 reviews at or below 2 stars. Sears & Panosonic did not fair any better.

This Sharp was down the list on CR ratings but had great reviews. Sharp microwaves on Amazon had solid reviews. The appearance of this one was perfect for our kitchen and had large capacity. Found it at local Fry's; Ta-Da. (I don't know if this family could function w/o a microwave!).

We've had it for two + months now and it does everything it is supposed to do. Very pleased. Large turntable & capacity are major pluses.

I have no idea what is going on in the microwave indusdry; it seems like the ovens are failing at a far more rapid rate than before. I'm hoping Sharps buck the trend.

 "Broke after 15 months" 2010-04-06
By Blackpen (Texas)
Microwave is nice, except that it did not last more than 15 months. Was not used very much, so should have lasted many years. Will cost about $80 to repair the heating element, since only the part is covered under warranty, not labor. So much for cheap products from China! Not the cheapest solution in the long run when you have to spend $140 every year for a new microwave!!

"Worked great for 14 months...." 2010-01-04
By Sandra D. Werkheiser
and then it burned up while warming up leftovers for 30 seconds. Luckily I was right there and yanked the plug right away as soon as I smelled the smoke. Reading the reviews here it doesn't seem like an isolated case. Of course right after the warranty expired. Went out in the trash today.

 "Function great, but!" 2009-11-14
By J. McGillis (Wa. USA)
We have only had the microwave for a couple of months and are very satisfied with how the unit heats and functions our only complaint is the size of lettering on controls. In low light conditions they are very difficult to read.

 "It works well" 2009-08-28
By iva raine
Replaced another large microwave I had. Size is good and heats well.

A little different than my Panosonic but learning!Husband loves the pop corn setting!

Price was right as well as the size!

Would only consider one with a caurosel as it heats more evenly. Can slow down the power so things do not bubble over.

So far so good!

 "Didn't even work for 2 weeks" 2009-07-14
By Mikie (Colorado, USA)
This microwave was a replacement for a Sharp that we had for 15 years. This one didn't even last for 2 weeks with limited use reheating items. It started working intermittently, timer would count down and after a while the microwave unit would finally kick in. Finally the same day the microwave unit would not run at all.

Tried unplugging it to reset the electronics but no luck.

I'm very disappointed in the quality of the current Sharp microwaves. Would have given it a zero but that isn't possible. I will be buying another brand locally.
