After 12 years of hard use my last Sharp Microwave finally went belly up. I researched all microwaves and came back to my original thoughts....buy another Sharp!!!
Purchased the Sharp R-420LK Countertop Microwave through Amazon and it is amazing. Sleek and ergonomic with preset programs to do almost anything. Cooks flawlessly and looks great to boot. I highly recommend this excellent product to anyone looking for a countertop microwave.

My 15+ year old Samsung microwave finally died (to my wife's rejoicing...) and I had to find a new microwave to fit on the built-in microwave shelf of our kitchen. The R-420LK won the battle based on the dimensions available and the features (I wanted sensor cook and lots of power).
The first unit that I received from Amazon had some sort of super-adhesive on the ad glued to the front of the door. When I went to remove it, the glue smeared all of the shiny black door. Nooooooo! My wife was not happy, so I contacted Amazon and they agreed to replace the cosmetically blemished unit. I received the replacement (which had normal adhesive on the front ad) and configured the unit. (Great job by Amazon!)
Wow, does this thing cook! It has to be twice as fast as the older microwave that it replaced. I have to use about 2/3's the time listed on the packages for frozen food, or it will burn things. I'm still getting used to the cooking times, but am quite impressed with the performance.
We like that we can fit the 8x11 baking dish inside, and the fact that it makes perfect popcorn automagically. :)
All in all, I'm happy and hope that we get several years of life out of this thing, as that would be the only downfall that I could see.

The front face of the door is a thin plastic that is spaced away from the 'meat' of the door and creates an air pocket. It's like a cheap drum. The sticker was placed right on it and it leaves sticky material that you need to work really hard to clean off right away... And the thin material scares me to death to clean, I left a mark on it the first hour I had it. We did not account for the 2.5"-3" AC plug that it comes with. It leaves our unit hanging out a bit at this time. I need to find a 90 degree low profile plug or the likes.
This unit relaced our 22 year old JCPenney model. I'm not so sure they make things like they use to.

Bought this as a replacement for our old Sharp Carousel. It's much like the old one with a few more features. I gave it only 4 stars for a couple of reasons, it wants to slide on the counter top when you open and close it (I put a piece of wood between it and the wall to fix) and, I think the control panel could be laid out better (why aren't the "Start" and "Stop" pads highlighted and seperated out from the others). Over all, this is a very nice microwave and I would make the same choice again.
P.S. My wife has no trouble with the control panel, so maybe it's me.

After six months of owning this microwave, the door would no longer open. When I called Sharp customer service, they told me to bring it to a service center (the closest of which was an hours drive away). The service center informed me that the door no longer worked because the components had been melted, due to placement of the microwave above the stove. They tried to repair the microwave, but the part was on back order, and after several phone calls to Sharp (who repeatedly said they would call back, and never did) and a month's time gone by without a microwave, they finally said they would send a replacement (not to my home, but to the service center, which was still an hour away). I explained that I did not want the same model, as it would not effectively work over my stove and was therefore useless to me, and asked if I could get my money back, or if they could send me a comparable model that had a pull handle for the door, rather than a push button. They said neither was possible. When I asked to talk to a manager, I got only a supervisor, who said again they would just ship the exact replacement model, and that they had talked to their engineers and they said there was no evidence that the cause of the door malfunctioning was due to heat from a stove. However, upon further investigation, it appears that this model is not designed for over the stove. Sharp's customer service is ineffective and not responsive. I am not satisfied with the final solution, as I will get a product that is not meeting my needs. I won't buy another Sharp product because dealing with their customer service was an absolute nightmare.
