 "Mom loves it!" 2010-03-13
By Kimmesha (New York, NY)
I brought this microwave for my mom since she wants to turn her kitchen into red and she absolutely loves the microwave. It works great.

 "red microwave" 2010-01-10
By Y. Cakil (SEATTLE, WA)
I just got this thing yesterday and put it in my kitchen, which looked pretty nice.

It is not a really big microwave, and it has less choices for heating then my generic microwave, which is in storage overseas for the next 19 months.

I do not regret to have chosen this microwave versus the Emerson, since I have seen other Emerson items " dying ". I figured, I pay a little more, and get it in red, to match the rest of my red kitchen appliances.

Once I opened up the box, there was a small dent and also a some scratches.

It is no big deal, because the performance is pretty good.

It heats up food faster than my " generic " microwave, so I rather have this one.

The color is a nailpolish, ketchup, lipstick darker red, and not as shiny as it is shown,It is shiny, but not metallic in color.

The one thing my daughter pointed out was , that she scratched it with her fingernail somehow, and there was also another scratch on it, when I took it out of the box.

It was packed well, but I do not know, maybe the delivery and packaging was pretty rough...

Anyway, the paint is really sensitive and fingerprints are inevitable, so you gotta polish it like a car a lot. The inside of it is taller, but not that wide, but large enough to thaw up an average sized chicken at the max.

I am giving it a four star, because the paint is like a woman's bad red nailpolish, it is sensitive.

Other than that is so new, I will keep it the rest of the stars right now for it, because it does heat really well.

I really bought it for the color and the previous review.

But I would not buy a microwave online anytime soon again, because it is better to buy some things by being able to evaluate the interior/exterior hands on.

Pictures deceive us sometimes often.

i recommend this item, if you have a red kitchen, but just take in consideration the paint of it is really weak to touch.

I love this Magic Chef 900 watt Microwave because it is just the right size, the red is awesome, the instructions are the easiest ever. The temperatures are true and unlike our last microwave we haven't burned anything. Over the years we have owned about 7 microwaves and this is my absolute favorite.

 "Not worth the price" 2009-10-16
By Angela Harris
It was a good microwave... for awhile. Then it decided to blow up. I haven't even had it a year. I spent a little more for what I thought would be a better microwave, but I'll stick with the cheapies from now on--they last longer. Btw, to get the parts to fix this microwave cost more than the original purchase of the microwave! Ridiculous.

 "Great microwave" 2007-12-10
By Emil Schultz (minnesota)
Has all the features needed & then some.Easy &simple to operate. It replaces a 900 watt Emerson that died after 4 years & alot of use.If this one lasts that long I'll be very happy. It could use a timer but no big deal.Nice looking & a lot of features for the money.

 "Let's see...!" 2007-11-10
By Eiluj-UK (Europe)
Well, I must say I made this order(overseas) with Amazon, for family living overseas...and within 24hrs this was delivered-wow...great!! But now, the next thing, is to see how my family finds the use of this microwave...I do hope, that since those last four reviews, that there would have been improvement(it took quite sometime, for me to finally make the decision as to what would be IDEAL). So,for now, I give it a three star rating...until later.

 "Emerson .9 Microwave oven" 2007-01-10
By Winifred Bellido (Houston, TX United States)
The first one I received didn't work. I sent in a quiry received a reply and got postage to send it back UPS. I did and within days the replacement came. It works fine. I like the controls on it. It has a lot of options and quick cooks. It's the right size for my apartment too since it's 900 volts it's doesn't overload the circuits.

 "Where's the timer?" 2006-07-14
By C. Horst (Chicago, IL)
The other reviewer is incorrect about the microwave's (in)ability for specific cooking time input. All you have to do is hit the Power Level button first, then the numbers will allow you to input any time you want, 8 seconds or 45 seconds or whatever. I have the same 8992sb that the other reviewer has.

I've had the microwave for 3 months, and for the most part it has worked very well and is very easy to operate. One minor flaw is that the Popcorn button, when pressed once, defaults to settings for a 1.75 oz bag of microwave popcorn. This is the "mini" bag size that isn't very common. Most microwave popcorn comes in a slightly larger bag, and to set for that you have to push the Popcorn button TWICE to get to the correct setting. This is counter-intuitive, as the majority of microwave popcorn on store shelves is the larger size. It took me a few bags of popcorn to figure that out, and I had a LOT of unpopped kernels until I looked back at the manual and then at my box of popcorn to see that the microwave doesn't default to the most common size. But that's minor.

The major flaw with this microwave is WHERE IS THE KITCHEN TIMER? Most new microwaves nowadays have a kitchen timer. The store where I bought this microwave lists that it has a kitchen timer. This site lists that it has a kitchen timer, and this microwave has the exact same button display as mine. The owner's manual does NOT list a kitchen timer. I have pressed every button on the thing, and there is no timer. I tried adjusting the power level from 1 - 10. Power level 1 still turns on power, and there is no Power Level 0.

I used the kitchen timer on my old microwave all the time. When I bought this one, multiple sources listed it having a kitchen timer. But there is no timer. If I had known before I bought this microwave that it had no timer function, I would NOT have bought it.
