My GE XL1800 came with the homebuilder's "package price" and could not be substituted. It is abominable, as are all GE home appliances, from ranges to coffee pots. The main problems are reliability, and user interface. This microwave is one of the worst, and I have had other GE microwaves. They are hard to avoid since they dominate the market. The most annoying thing is the presumptive and cryptic button panels and the zombie-brain-dead displays. I have never yet figured out how to defrost a 2 lb block of cheese or how to cancel the timer after it has once been started. As for convection cooking -- forget about it. Every time I heat up a cup of coffe and the damn thing beeps at me 4 or six times, while blinking "Your Food Is Ready," I feel like putting my fist throught the door panel. GE may be the low cost provider, but there is a reason for that: their stuff is designed by idiots. There are many better choices.

I agree wholeheartedly with the other review. An odd noise in 2007 and then the turntable stopped turning. And there's only one here with most meals eaten out. Now, another noise that goes with what I don't know. Never again.

We bought this model less than 3 years ago. It worked wonderfully and I'll have a very hard time finding one I like more, but it stopped heating food altogether, started making scary noises and we saw sparks... the manufacturer's warranty only provides a new magnetron tube but I have to pay for labor & related parts. I don't really want their new tube if it's only going to last 3 years, so I'm shopping again!
