I got this item for Christmas and have taken time to figure out how to make perfect movie-style popcorn. Here's what you do.



First, put in an insert--these will last about 25 uses if you wipe them off right after popping with a warm paper towel. No soap!



Second, add 1/3 cup of popcorn. I got a 20lb bag of Act II popcorn at Sam's for $20. It'll EASILY last a year.



Third, add 1.5 teaspoons of Coconut oil. Amazon sells an organic version that's actually good for you--and there's a lot there. Do the research and you'll see I'm right. Nutiva Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, 15-Ounce Unit (Pack of 2) This makes a HUGE difference in the taste of the popcorn. Plus, this is a very clean oil and it doesn't soak through the insert like many of the other oils I tried. It makes everything better!



Finally, before popping, add about 1/4 teaspoon of Flavacol butter-flavored salt. They sell this at your local restaurant supply store for under $2 for a huge container. It'll easily last a year, and is what the movie theaters use.



Then just pop! I pop for 2.5 minutes on high in my microwave. I don't let it go longer than that even though it's still popping because otherwise some kernels will start burning and destroy the overall flavor.



Yummy! And SO much better for you than the microwave popcorn you'd buy in the store...and cheaper, too!

I ordered this popper for my daughter early in December and gave it to her for Christmas. Unfortunately, she didn't open the box until over a month had passed, and when she found that the bottom was cracked she attempted to exchange it, but was unable to because of Amazon's one month return policy. Too bad. When we shopped locally and bought one, she is thoroughly enjoying it.

Got this for a college student. Works great, he can buy bulk popcorn and still use the microwave. Much better than the chemicals in prepackaged popcorns and no bag to scorch! Much better on the college students budget as well.

Only dissapointment was the outer box was really smashed when we got it but had not effect on the item, just looked bad. Just a shipping issue. Product is a must for all that are popcorn lovers!

I bought this device about 6 months ago and have been extremely happy with the results. I do not use any oil so the paper liners last, well I don't know when I'll have to replace the first one. All microwaves are different when it comes to power levels. Mine does a perfect pop in 2 min and 20 sec. Leaves very few if any corn not popped.

I was initially quite skeptical of this item prior to ordering. I was however completely wrong! This device does in fact make excellent popcorn, pops all of the kernels and does so in the microwave with no additional fat, etc. My daughter loves this and we season the popcorn wiht ranch, white cheddar or butter seasonings that are sold in the popcorn section. I have has this product for many years and have loved it! It makes great "air popped" popcorn (no oil) for a healthy snack. I have reused the inserts countless times without any problem. I don't use oil in my popper, though. I was just looking to order inserts (as I am on my last one) when I saw that amazon carries them. This is the first time I have had to buy inserts ever! After you figure out the cook time with your microwave, you are good to go. I had to really decrease cook time when I got my new microwave last year (it's like a nuclear plant!).

I cannot believe there are good reviews of this product. It's terrible! We have tried everything--oil, no oil, short times, longer times. The paper cups don't last more than 1-2 uses and the popper only pops half the kernels. But mostly it burns the popcorn! I am off to buy an air popper!
