"Not What I was Hoping For" 2010-03-15
By GNFilm
This product was unfortunately not what I was hoping for. It's definitely a "trial and error" type deal. I'll lay this out pretty simply:

1. This bowl is good in theory (especially b/c you can supposedly cook pasta and rice in it as well), but not so good in the microwave. I probably put too many kernels in, which made the popcorn burn. I will say that looking at the picture provided of this image, there is legitimately NO way to achieve that. You will not pop all the kernels. In fact, you might not even pop most of them. It's pretty disappointing.

2. When you take it out of the microwave, seriously, be careful. They tell you it's going to be hot, but putting your hands in your sleeves isn't going to cut it. It might make sense to let it sit in the microwave for a bit after, which I didn't do since the microwave was full of smoke. That brings me to point 3.

3. Not so sure about the microwave safety. I had the bowl in for no more than 3 minutes (and that's a super safe estimate, it was probably closer to 2 1/2 minutes). When I took it out to avoid setting the place on fire, the top was scorched on the outside. Most of it washed off, which made me more concerned about the durability of the plastic, but it's still kind of burned looking. If it's any comfort to anyone, none of the plastic melted and dripped onto the popcorn.

4. The bowl is kind of big. It almost touched the top of the microwave, which was a relief since when I opened it my concern was that it wouldn't fit at all. If you have a small microwave, then I wouldn't get this.

So, to summarize, the product isn't bad, it's just not that great. It's disappointing, potentially unsafe, and just a hassle in general. I would steer someone away from paying more than 5 or 6 bucks for this product, and recommend that they try a different brand/model. Maybe something not-plastic.

"THIS IS NOT MICROWAVE SAFE!" 2010-01-22
By K. Norris (Seattle, WA USA)
I just tested this product out last night. I followed the directions for popcorn making exactly. In under four minutes (and the directions say 4-5.5 minutes) the plastic had melted all over the (now burnt) popcorn. My apartment still smells and it almost set off my fire alarm.

How do you sell a product for the microwave that isn't microwave safe?

"Better in theory than in practice" 2009-09-15
By J. Ward
While the idea was great, the actual item hasn't worked that well for me. What few instructions it does come with are not at all helpful. It doesn't pop all the popcorn (and burns easily); and, despite following the instructions, the rice boiled over and consequently didn't cook properly. I have only had frustrations thus far. Perhaps I need to try again, but when the first time is difficult, it is hard to be motivated to give it another go.

"Spills a bit, but otherwise great" 2009-07-18
By D. Nelson (New England)
I've been looking for a multitasker to take the place of a rice cooker in my life. This is more compact, and works just as well as a rice cooker. But of course, it has no "warm" setting.

If it didn't spill in the microwave a bit every time, I'd be giving it 5 stars. So I just put a plate under it.. works great and you can use it for pasta and popcorn too.

"Good for rice; for pasta not so much" 2009-07-02
By Littlebird (Arizona)
Rice comes out with every grain separate and cooked just right with very little tweaking and in less than 1/2 the time of stove-top cooking. Pasta however is a different story. I used less pasta and less water than their sample proportions, but the water bubbled up and out and flooded the microwave . I poured some water out, but it did the same thing again. There was really very little water in it. Also the pasta sticks together a little because you never get to mix it. However the pasta can be separated with a fork when done and it did cook to just the right degree of tenderness, albeit in the same time as stove-top. I think I'll try it one more time, with a plate underneath, because it does not heat up the kitchen as much as cooking on the stove in a hot Arizona summer. The other thing that bothered me is that there is no contact information for the manufacturer, and on their website, which I found only through Google, they don't list this product or allow for contact. But, hey, it's only $11.
