 "Very Happy" 2010-02-06
By Jenifer Center (Sacrmento, CA)
My roommate and I received this as a Christmas present from his father. He had us do the research and get what we wanted. We love this product. It meets all expectations, it may sound funny but the popcorn button truly does work to the last kernel. I would recommend it to anyone. The design is very sleek looking and we know there is still a lot more to explore with what it can do.

"Food in the unit before you choose preheat convection" 2010-01-09
By J. Quinlan (United States)
Great idea I went out and got frozen french fries.

Tried no preheat convection and after 15 minutes they weren't done and cooked another 5 minutes.

Another batch I went with preheat and the temp at 425 as suggested and put the fries in the oven at the start of the preheat cycle. By the time it hit 425 the fries were done. I never did set the time. You are not allowed to set the time before the temp preheat is reached. At that rate if they are not quite done then you add more time through what they call kitchen time.

there's heat exhausting out the back that I wish would stay in the oven heating it up faster. However I don't know how convection ovens heat themselves.

Tried the idea of turning on the grill for 2 minutes then going to convection. It did not seem to speed things up any.

I am not unhappy. I've gotten three appliances off my counter and put the Cuisinart on top of the stove. Heat is an issue in the southwest so I have never used my gas pilot stove.

The microwave works exactly as I expected.

The grill has three settings. 100% grilling, 30% micro plus 70% grill, and 55% micro plus 45% grill. I haven't enjoyed steak at home for years so this I am really looking forward to. Fishsticks I'm going to try 30/70.

Roasting and baking have a fast setting which combines micro and convection, you can go straight convection too.

I would buy it again because the price is right, it microwaves great and grills. I never was an oven baker so few times I may preheat convection will be very seldom.

Right now I'm going to look for a rack utensil that I can use in both oven and microwave.

I'm sure after a learning curve that I will be preheat convection cooking and adding minutes after the oven acquires the set temp to finish my cooking.

Everything is possible.

This is a great Microwave I used this to cook during Thanksgiving day and Christmas and proved to be a great microwave it truly did get the job done I use it alot for normal microwave uses but again for the oven it is great. It is made out of stainless steel which I found pretty nice especially on my metal counter top and the size was reasonable for a microwave not to big nor too small would buy again if it would to break down

 "Expensive Microwave" 2009-10-15
By Grover C. Strickler
I own one

It is an ok as as a 100 dollar microwave,

As a oven it will take forever to get to a desired temperature 45 minutes+,

mine has never got above 375, and after an hour or so I am usually done.

If you want something that will do it all, this will do it.

However I wanted something that would do it faster (baking/broiling)

and given the forever preheat time this does not cut it.

Cuisinart CMW-200 1-1/5-Cubic-Foot Convection Microwave Oven with Grill I too wish I had read the reviews, I live in the hot southwest and use a convection a lot, it takes longer to heat up than to bake some things. I have a lot of Cuisinart products, but this one is terrible for what I need it for.

 "Excellent for Price" 2010-02-04
By neveo (Monroe Township, NJ USA)
I had removed and disassembled a microwave oven door in order to replace a broken handle and wanted some level of assurance that the oven was not leaking dangerously after the repair. In my case, the unit gave readings between 1/100 and half a milliwatt per square centimeter when moved around the over door seals and across the glass at a distance of about 2". These readings are well below the FDA limit of 5 milliwatts per square centimeter where the unit is supposed to beep. So it seems to be pretty sensitive - and, from the last review (where the unit did beep), also able to detect higher, more dangerous levels of leakage. It probably deserves 5 stars but there is no way to absolutely validate its accuracy, so I am giving it four.

"Great concept but needs some help..." 2009-04-07
By M. Goodinson (NJ United States)
Great concept but the product construction doesn't function as intended for very long. After going through the microwave a couple of times, it refuses to stay extended in height and just slips back down the the minimum height.

Yes, this can be probably be rigged to stay up permanently but the flexibility of having it adjust is not real. A redesign of the product with perhaps something to more firmly snap in and effectively support the extended height and still be able to snap back to single height is required.

"Keep in Permanetly Expanded Position" 2009-02-07
By Corine M. Stinson
This cover sits nicely OVER my food and not IN it (which I love!), but only if snapped into the expanded position permanently. I tried collapsing it for shallow dishes, then expanding for taller ones, but it can be a hassle to line the edges up perfectly each time. To avoid that, I took the time to properly expand it once (so the edges are even) and I keep it that way all the time, which is main feature I liked about it - Height!

"Saves clean up but with a problem" 2008-12-06
By Heather Phillips (Corrales, NM)
These type of covers are a must if you have teenagers who overheat their food in the microwave then don't clean up the splatter. This one works pretty well but the extension part does not stay up all the time. It often falls down and then touchs your food during cooking. I guess I could modify it by drilling some holes putting some toothpicks thru to keep it in the extended position. It is still better than the ones that are half it height.

We bought this unit to replace a nearly identical version that had been in our home for ages and had finally died. After only 7 months of very infrequent use, the heat function stopped working on the new unit. It looks like it's working, but nothing gets hot. I guess you get what you pay for...

"Good value, plenty of even power" 2009-12-19
By M. Stewart (Texas, USA)
This microwave is nice and compact, yet it has a roomy interior that will handle just about anything. The turntable rotates in both directions, allowing more even heating of foods. I have had excellent results in reheating leftovers.

The keypad is quick and easy enough to use for your standard time input of minutes and seconds. It is also easy to use the keypad as a count-down timer; just punch in the minutes and seconds, and "Timer". The one-minute button is just a single push; no need to hit "Start" also.

The "shortcut" features are extremely complex and end up taking more keystrokes than to just punch in the time. To use the "Popcorn" shortcut button, you have to punch that button several times, depending on the size of the bag. Some of the shortcut keys have been useful, but deciphering how many times to hit the button will require a lot of practice or keeping the manual handy. The "Power Level" button requires pushing it up to ten times to select 90%, 80%, .... levels.

 "Noisy But Nice" 2009-10-21
By C. Stuewe-Portnoff (Columbia, MO USA)
This microwave looks good and operates well, as microwave ovens go. What I wish I'd known: (1) It's noisy. Specifically, it's loud when operating and the door cannot be opened and closed quietly. (2) The keypad for setting time and power level is not intuitive or self-explanatory - requires reading the manual and memorizing sequences for different functions. (3) Food is not always evenly heated, and popcorn will burn before it stops popping, unless the power level is reduced. This model is larger than most compacts, a couple of inches too big to fit on many standard microwave carts, so it's taking up counter space - my fault, should have measured for this before ordering. All in all, it does the job.

"Great Value - Very Powerful" 2009-08-30
By Renee Bradley
This microwave DEFROSTS PERFECTLY with no cooked edges. I've only had this unit for six days but I am thoroughly impressed. This replaced a GE that cost four times as much and quit working after only 2 1/2 years (and didn't perform nearly as well as this Sharp). At this price, even if it lasts only a couple of years, I feel it will have been money well spent.

"What a time saver, and great tasting too!" 2010-01-20
By Elaine Campbell (Rancho Mirage, CA United States)
I am really glad I discovered this kitchen accessory. And it makes poached eggs much better than the long, stovetop way.

But you have to be careful. The first time I used it, and followed the microwave directions for the double egg poacher, which were to cook at medium power for approximately 30-45 seconds, the middle of the eggs were very runny at the end. When I cooked them longer, then they were curdled.

I almost tossed this gadget out, but then thougt to myself: My microwave doesn't get terribly hot. Perhaps if I increase the medium power setting to 60, keeping the same time setting of 45 seconds, the eggs will cook correctly. And they did. In fact, perfectly! So it is wonderful not to have the leftover dishes and to go through the whole procedure of poaching eggs when it is simplified with even better results with this accessory. But I repeat you may have to experiment to find the right time/power setting for your particular microwave.

I put the egg poacher in the upper rack of the dishwasher, but it does need to be gone over a little with a plastic scraper beforehand as a small film of egg residue does remain after washing. Not a big deal!

The cups are wide enough and deep enough that the finished eggs themselves are ample and very attractive.

One of the best finds I have made in years!

 "Caution" 2009-05-02
By Ernie686 (Lascassas, Tennessee USA)
This is a great product and works well in the Microwave. BUT... please use caution. I got a pretty good burn this morning. It would have been worse except that I had let the egg sit for 2-3 minutes. I cooked the egg in the microwave 1:15 which is a about right for one egg. It looked good, just about right. Put it between two slices of toast. Half way though the sandwich, it "exploded." Apparently a steam pocket had built up in the yolk, and when I bit into it -- bam. It made enough noise to get my wife's attention across the kitchen. My face still hurts 12 hours later. If it had happened right after cooking, I suspect it would have been much worse.

 "Egg poacher" 2008-11-16
By M. Church (SC)
Product was a disapointment for this price range. Area for eggs is to small, they tend to spill over the side when putting in microwave. I put it on a paper plate, being made of silicone it's not to stable. It cooks unevenly at times, one side will cook more then the other. It's not easy to clean, even after soaking. I always seem to miss a spot no matter how hard I scrub it. It's better then some of the cheaper ones, but I would not have bought it knowing of these problems.

"This cart is worth it!" 2010-02-05
By Daniel J. Mizerak (Glen Burnie, MD)
this cart does its job perfectly. when put together correctly this thing holds 44 pounds on two of the shelves and 33 pounds on the pull out shelf. thought it doesnt pull out far that was an added bonus when i opened it up. this cart is in the 50 dollar price range so yea it feels a little shakey when you move it but its deffinitly sturdy. we love this cart it work perfectly for our microwave and toaster oven. built well and does what its suppose to do. you get what you pay for and this cart is a little shakey but if u want solid buy a much more expensive wood cart. this cart saved us money and does what it is meant to do. ignore the bad reviews buy this but make sure you put it together correctly!

By happygirl (philadelphia, pa)
This cart is in the corner of my kitchen and it holds my microwave (on the top shelf), the middle shelf houses my toaster over, and the bottom shelf holds the crock pot. Love the chrome look. I have a white kitchen and just wanted something small and bulky to hold these appliances. This was perfect. Would recommend it to everyone. A little tricky to put together, but that is because I was not reading the directions correctly. The wheels are optional and I was glad because I did not want the cart rolling around the kitchen while I was trying to use it.

This cart is poorly made and not sturdy enough to hold a microwave. It is not worth the money. I have bought products from amazon.com for years and this is the first time I have given a product a negative review. I bought it despite reading a couple of negative reviews and now regret it. I set it up correctly exactly as specified in the directions and it constantly wobbles. one of the metal pieces of the stands is also broken. I cannot return it because it is too hard to take a part. Amazon should not be selling poor quality products like this

 "Flawed design" 2009-12-01
By Ryan Patterson (Vermont, USA)
I needed an icecream scoop and this scoop looked very nice in the store. The entire scoop is made of stainless steel and looks impressive. Being an engineer I thought the rack and pinion gears at the bottom of the handle connected directly to the bowl sweeper was a great design that would allow the user to directly apply maximum pressure to dislodge whatever you are scooping. But it turned out to be horribly flawed when scooping icecream (.

When you are scooping hard icecream the sweeper blade will get stuck in the bowl. If you squeeze the handle with any serous pressure the pinion gear will start to strip and then the rack and pinion gears will skip a tooth. Not only is your icecream still stuck in the bowl but now the sweeper blade doesn't align correctly with the side of the bowl. And it is a pain to re-mesh the rack and pinion correctly.

Another flaw in the design is that there is no way get a good grip on the handle without squeezing the two sides together. That means the sweeper blade will get stuck under a scoop of icecream in the middle of the bowl and the spring is not strong enough to pull it back to the home position. Also if the very top of the scoop pushes against the icecream the top end of the sweeper blade will pop out of it's bearing hole. Then if you squeeze the handle the sweeper blade will bend and deform. You have to bend it back into shape by hand.

All of this contributes to a very frustrating experience trying to scoop a bowl of icecream

Customer Buzz
"Actually, it IS 3 tablespoons" 2009-10-10
By John David Schatz
ETA: Regarding the review above claiming a "horribly" "flawed design": There is no design flaw, only an unrealistic expectation. No one should ever use any sweeper scoop to dish HARD ice cream, They're not engineered for that. If I need to dish HARD ice cream (I make my own and it rarely freezes to HARD), I use a Zeroll Original 3-Ounce Aluminum Ice Cream Scoop and would heartily recommend it.

==========================================================================

I came to these Norpo scoops (I have three: a Norpro 35 mm Stainless Steel Scoop (one tablespoon), this one (three tablespoons) and a Norpro 56mm Stainless Steel Scoop (four tablespoons) recently, in September, 2009, after a bad experience with the Oxo Good Grips Trigger Ice Cream Scoop. I really like them. Very well made. Coming from the OXO it's sort of like the difference in closing a door on a Benz and a Ugo.

However, now I need to look for a TWO tablespoon scoop because this really (with all due deference to D. Evans) does hold three, and it's immaterial whether it's water or grains of salt, 2009 or any other year.

ETA: In looking for a real 2 tablespoon model online today, I came across a vendor who claims to have one that "holds PRECISELY 2 tablespoons of your favorite ice cream, cookie dough, melons, chicken or potato salad..." (Emphasis added.) Unfortunately, it's the same model as this one, a Norpro #678. So much for precision. I'm not having much luck finding what I need so, a shout-out to Norpro: Label this one correctly as a three tablespoon and make a real two tablespoon model.

ETA: I ordered the Norpro 39mm Stainless Steel Scoop and I'm making a guess it will hold two tablespoons.

ETA: It doesn't. It holds almost, but not quite, two tablespoons.

My disher is most certainly 2 tablespoons, so take all the old reviews of it being 3 in reality with a grain of salt.

The reality is this is a #24 disher, of solid 18/10 stainless construction. It is a fine tool if not a bit tough to clean in places.

Enjoy your dishing!
