"This had a lot to live up to... and did." 2009-05-15
By LaWeezel (New Hampshire, USA)
I was replacing a microwave I'd had for years, after the old one... erm. Caught on fire. (the door latch had been failing for months. Learn from this! If your microwave works sporadically, get a new one before you are running out the back door with the critter in arms to toss it on the back lawn while white smoke pours out! But I digress.)

I loved that old microwave. I hate learning new interfaces. And I learned this one. Fast. I set it up by the book, and did not have trouble. I have learned how to use almost all the buttons. I finally have realized I do not need to push a button to open the door, after hitting the spot where the old one had a button many times the first month.

And it is FASTER! I had to reduce the reheat of my big mug of coffee from 1:30 to 1 minute. That is nice when I'm late to work.

It is also a LOT lighter than my old model. The state of the art has improved. If you have a heavy old model that you didn't like to move on your counter even when you knew it had to be really grody behind it and you should clean it... well, you will be able to slide this one over, or even move it to another counter to clean its spot.

The only thing I miss is that the old one was about 2 inches taller inside, and a couple items I used to put in do not fit in this one.

I have been using this microwave for several months and it has performed well on most uses. I like to use it to use it for popcorn and found it to be inconsistant from one bag to another. Sometimes it pops the whole bag just right and then the next time it doesn't. Still do not understand why this happens.

"I miss my old one!" 2008-12-02
By Thistle (The Desert Southwest, USA)
My old microwave was on it's last legs to I bought this Panasonic to replace it. I don't much care for it, here's why:

It has a lot of useless, goofy buttons on it with no explanation of what to do with them. Example: "Breakfast(1 to 3)" "Lunch (4 to 6)", etc. The instruction book was no help whatsoever.

The buttons are difficult to press, requiring a lot of pressure and often multiple presses to activate.

The lighted display which shows the time, is difficult to read. You have to be at just the right angle to see what it says. Not good if the unit is sitting on a counter, you have to get right at eye level to read this thing.

It doesn't heat evenly like my old one did, nor as fast. Often one side of whatever you're cooking will be blazing hot while the other side is cold... and this despite the rotating tray inside!

Perhaps I just got the lemon of the model, but this one was a waste. I should have keep my old one until to completely died! I'm just glad I didn't give this as a gift!

 "Does the job.." 2008-09-03

Old Microwave was loosing it's enamel which meant it was time to get a new one... Easy to use and setup and does the job... The only problem I have is that the display for the time is a bit dull... May I will need to get the manual out....

 "Great product, great price" 2008-07-02
By Dean R. Kohler II (Milwaukee, WI)
For how much I spent on this microwave, I couldn't be happier. Had all the features I wanted in a microwave considering my minimalist needs. Great power, cooks a lot faster than I expected it to. Only problem I have is the power level setting isn't as intuitive as I would expect. Other than that one thing, no complaints. Definitely recommend this product.
