 "Yet another annoyance..." 2010-03-03
By Ron Douglas (Sunnyvale, CA United States)
I agree with the other negative reviews, namely the display for midgets, too many energy option settings, an almost useless oven light, and clumsy user interface (like try to set the power level to 2). Here is another one: on an ordinary countertop, this oven is so light in weight thanks to the absence of 60 Hz magnetics, that it floats all over the place. Depress the latch to open the door, and the unit slams into the back counter unless it is held with the other hand. Same with depressing any of the front panel switches. I had to install a back board to space it away from the counter's splash guard. This problem could have been avoided by engineering some non-slick feet. Those that it comes with are very hard and slippery.

 "Horrible product!" 2010-02-22
By Mediahound (SF Bay Area, CA United States)
This lasted only about a year because the door button/latch is completely faulty. In fact, it only really worked properly for a couple of months, then I had to press the door button at the same time as try to pull open the door (but the door has no handle to grab). It finally just stopped opening at all one day with my hot food on a plate stuck inside. I could not get the door open and had to dispose of the microwave with the food and plate inside it.

In the end, the door latch and button is of extremely poor design and Panasonic should be ashamed.

"nice features and looks great" 2010-02-09
By R. Phillips (NC)
I purchased this Panasonic microwave after my 10 year old Panasonic died. I was looking for the roomiest microwave I could find (because I often reheat food in my 13x9" baking dishes), and I needed one that had the features I was looking for. I also had hoped to find one that would compliment the look of my kitchen. I found it all in this model. 1250 watts makes cooking quick. I enjoy the defrost feature which automatically determines how long to defrost when you key in the weight of the item being defrosted. One thing that I also found helpful in this model is that you have instructions in the manual to set the oven to soften (not melt) a stick of butter. I use this feature regularly for all the baking I do. Love this! The instruction guide is very easy to understand, and it gives lots of handy tips to make the oven a very helpful appliance. The only thing I would change about this microwave is the dial on front to set cook time. I would prefer numbers on the key pad (my reason for giving only 4 stars), but the dial has been easy enough to adjust to. And, besides, my teen daughters think it's "cool." Just requires breaking old habits! Really a nice-looking appliane that I am quite proud to have in my kitchen. This is my first stainless kitchen appliance, and I have found, like other reviewers, that very visible finger prints are inevitable. Not a huge problem. The door and the release button feel solid. Overall, I feel this is a well-made appliance. Very happy w/ this purchase.

 "Nice & Big Inside" 2009-12-22
By SMoto (Brea, CA)
My 2nd Panasonic microwave. Replaced the 1st one, not because it died (it's still running fine after 6 years & got donated to a school), but because we remodeled the kitchen. Two reasons why I picked this unit: #1 really big inside & one of the few that will hold my big glass casserole pan #2 Highly rated reliability. It's built-in to my cabs above my wall oven, which is a GE Profile. I opted not to have a matching GE Profile microwave because of all the negative ratings it got. The GE wall oven & Panasonic microwave faces have similar looks--no one notices that they aren't the same brand. I was hoping Panasonic changed the way you lower the power from the model I had, but they didn't. That's why I gave it 4 stars. Oven always defaults to 100%. If you want 70%, you get to push the power button 3 times, 1 push for every 10%. It's little annoying, especially if you want to run at 30%! Also, they incorporated a knob to dial in the time--liked the touch pan numbers better.

Also, the 1st oven I ordered arrived damaged--big hole in the control panel. Great Amazon Customer Service--replacement oven was at my door in 2 days. No hassles.

"Flexible and Easy to Program" 2009-12-19
By M. McGuinness (Denville, NJ)
We had this same model and unfortunately it had a problem after 14 months - but wait! We bought a GE and after three weeks, I hated it and ordered another Panasonic exactly like the old one. The variety of different power settings and the ease of programming in other settings is what I love about it.

The Inverter makes cooking and thawing more even than with other microwave ovens. I like to thaw frozen meat and chicken slowly on 10 percent power - no problem. Although the other oven was rated as having a larger capacity, this one has a tray two inches larger in diameter and the space is at least as high as in the other one. The stainless steel model looks nice and is easy to keep clean.
