very hard to clean, and worse, the handle shrank (i don't understand how but it did) and fell off while I was making a batch of spaetzle, so the whole thing fell into the boiling water. Yuck.

Works as it is designed to work. When you are finished, clean the dough off with cold water first or it will cook to your spaetzle maker. If I ever need another one, I would purchase this again.
